About MPC
Environmental Practices
Our commitment.
MPC Computers (MPC) is committed to using renewable resources wisely to protect our environment today — and tomorrow. As a company, we have a longstanding history of providing a safe and healthful work place, protecting the environment, and conserving energy and natural resources. Our customers can see that commitment reflected in our employees, our products, and our corporate culture.
Our company.
We're committed to reducing, reusing, and recycling in the workplace. Among other things, employees at MPC are:
  • Using recycled materials in packaging. We use 15-percent recycled foam on our shipping pack. Our corrugation averages 30 percent recycled content.
  • Using integrated shipping packaging that allows corrugation and foam to be 100 percent recyclable.
  • Recycling metals when possible.
  • Encouraged to recycle white paper, magazines, and aluminum cans, among other materials.
  • Given easy access to recycling receptacles throughout the MPC campus.
As an Idaho-based business, we are committed to act locally. Here is more recycling information from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality:

Our products.
MPC Computers is committed to manufacturing the highest quality products that not only satisfy our customers' computing needs, but also conserve energy and preserve our natural resources. Our numerous certifications reflect this commitment to lower your energy costs and protect our environment.
Learn How to Save with ENERGY STAR
ENERGY STAR qualified products and practices help you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE. Office products qualified to display the Energy Star label use 30 to 75 percent less energy than their traditional counterparts.
A new set of standards for Energy Star compliant computing systems, Energy Star 4.0, went into effect on July 20, 2007. Energy Star 4.0 is stricter than its predecessor and will reduce greenhouse gas emissions equal to that of around 7 million cars. In order to reduce fossil fuel use, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and cut down on energy costs, MPC sells products that meet the Energy Star 4.0 requirements, and we are committed to developing and manufacturing future Energy Star compliant systems.

80 PLUS®
80 PLUS® Program is a consortium of electric utilities across the country, is supporting and promoting a unique initiative designed to help the computer industry build more energy efficient computers that are available to you right now.
80 PLUS is a certification process that requires power supplies in computers and servers to be 80 percent or greater energy efficient. The benefits of purchasing an 80 PLUS qualified computer include:
  • Saving up to $70 over the life of one computer
  • Increasing computer system reliability by 40% and decreasing maintenance costs
  • Reducing computer and server heat output that in turn increases room or office comfort, saving money
  • The ability to run more computers on the same branch circuit
MPC is a proud partner of this program and now offers 80 PLUS qualified products. Take advantage of the benefits of 80 PLUS. The next time you buy a computer, simply specify 80 PLUS in your procurement process. Your computer will look and behave the same as before, but soon you will begin saving energy and achieving the many other benefits that more efficient computers deliver.

EPEAT
EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) is a procurement tool designed to help public and private sector purchasers compare and select desktops, notebooks, and monitors based on environmental attributes. This self-certification tool is based on IEEE 1680 standards and classifies products as gold, silver, or bronze depending on their satisfaction of 51 environmental criteria. MPC Computers has multiple products registered on the EPEAT Web site and has obtained silver status on the majority of them. Our EPEAT product offerings further demonstrate our commitment to develop and manufacture environmentally responsible products.

Our renewed ISO 9001 registration proves we apply our documented, continually improved processes-from initial design, to building your custom-configured computer, to technical support you may need years from now. Our commitment to protecting the environment is one facet of our continued ISO 9001 registration.

At MPC Computers we are continually working to manufacture products that meet the standards of the European Union's WEEE Directive (Waste of Electronic and Electrical Equipment) and RoHS Directive (the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment). These directives ban new electrical and electronic equipment from being placed on the European Market if they do not meet strict environmental standards. By working to comply with these directives we are demonstrating our commitment to manufacture products that help protect our environment.
